DYNAMIC STILLNESS
A profound appreciation of the power of stillness has been a cornerstone of cranial work since the outset. Sutherland, the originator of the cranial concept, was clear that ‘It is the stillness of the Tide, not the stormy waves that bound upon the shore, that has the potency, the power’.
In most of our encounters with Dynamic Stillness we expand our attention from the midline outwards towards the horizon, placing the emphasis on the inhalation phase of the Long Tide. If you place your attention on the exhalation phase of the Long Tide as it moves from the periphery of your perception towards the midline or midpoint, another quality becomes perceptible, a vibrational hum of life, characterized by constant change and activity. That’s the Dynamic at the heart stillness.
