RESILIENCE
Resilience is an engineering term that refers to the amount of energy a material can absorb and still return to its original state. In complex systems it is the ability of the system to react to perturbations, internal failures, and environmental events by absorbing the disturbance and/or reorganizing to maintain its functions.
This understanding from materials science is easily applied to human beings. Simply put, resilience is our ability to recover quickly from difficulties and adversity. Building resilience is a key aim in our therapy.
